Hill’s Pet Nutrition has recalled its Prescription Diet m/d Feline dry cat food apparently because it includes included wheat gluten from the same supplier that Menu Foods used.
For anyone worried about whether this was a question, just preface the above “question” with “Did you know that..” So ya, it’s a question AND an update.

Science Diet has tried to keep their recalls more quiet. They were not on the main list. Thanks for the information!
is this an update? because I don’t see this as a question. — But you’re right… Theres a big article about it on http://www.hills.com
Here is a link to the release article.

I expect more to come soon.
Actually there was a Science Diet canned food on the original recall list as well.
It was only canned foods at first.
Oh no! Thanks for the update! I did read an anecdotal article about some woman’s cat getting kidney failure from eating Science Diet dry cat food. Man oh man… who is safe?
Hill’s prescription m/d dry which is prescribed to diabetic animals is being recalled. You can only get this food through a veterinarian not at your local pet store, walmart, grocery store etc…As far as we know, no other dry foods have been officially recalled.
The rumors about Iams and Eukanuba dry food being recalled are false. Proctor and Gamble released a statement this morning that only the wet food is affected and as far as they know the dry food is still safe.
Watch your pets for any vomiting, diarrhea, poor appetite, increased water intake and lethargy. Those are some of the symptoms of kidney problems. Also if your pets have been on any of the food on the recall list it may not be a bad idea to get them checked in case they are having kidney problems but are asymptomatic.
I work at a vet clinic and that’s the latest information we’ve received from the companies as of 4 hours ago.
