The company that makes the dry cat food that is voluntarily being recalled also makes Science Diet! They say that Science Diet and Hill’s Prescription Diet is not affected, just Hill’s M/D Feline. BUT they also told us dry pet food wasn’t affected! So who and what can you trust??

Best thing to do is look at the ingredients on the bags of your pet’s food. The tainted food contains wheat gluten that has been imported from China.
Maybe now the US food processors will look at why they are out sourcing their food supplements and start buying locally again. Cheaper doesn’t always mean that you are getting the smae quality. And the foreign farmers may have different guidlines and practices that we have here in the states.
trust any dry food not made with wheat gluton
I don’t think you can trust anyone and that’s why I make my cats’ food myself and know exactly what goes into it. The processed canned food I do use is made by small manufacturers who have much greater quality control over their products.
The commercial pet food market runs into billions of dollars in PROFITS a year. One little “mistake” such as the contaminated wheat gluten (why your cat should be eating that in the first place is another issue) can have terrible repercussions for countless pet owners.
I feel the same way as you. I use Science Diet for my cat. I don’t know who to believe anymore.
