1) Greater susceptibility to melamine may explain why MORE CATS THAN DOGS died.
2) One type of Alpo wet dog food recalled on Saturday (Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food with specific date codes.)
3) NOW IT”S DRY FOOD TOO: Hill’s Pet Nutrition said late Friday that its Prescription Diet m/d Feline dry cat food included the tainted wheat gluten.
Hill’s, a division of Colgate-Palmolive Co., is so far the ONLY company to recall any DRY pet food

A wish for good health to all your pets!
What’s scary is the point bonnie g made…
The FDA simply doesn’t know for sure the who, what, where, when of this tragic situation.
Right now, with the recall still expanding,
NO pet is safe unless you’re feeding it homemade food that you can trust…
This is just awful!

The company that makes my dog food has a statement on their front page but I did email ask them where their dog food came from ..Depending on the answer will depend on what I do. Flint River is USA and 100 % natural but cost $50 for 35-40lb so we shall see…
Yup, The Hills came out yesterday, the Alpo recall this morning. Won’t be long I suspect til there are more drys added to the list, likely more canned foods too.
I would avoid everything with Wheat Gluten in it, foods, treats etc.
Also, if you read the washington post, it states that there is no indication that the wheat gluton made it to human foods. To me this means that they are just not sure. It is really scary.
Also, don’t forget that Diamon Foods recalled their foods that had corn, because of the mold on the corn causing illness in dogs and cats.
I just read one I had not heard. FDA requested one brand of pigs ear chew treats for dogs to be recalled, because it has salmonella. At this time, the company is refusing to recall this item. FDA says animals and humans alike can get sick from touching this product or surfaces it has come in contact with. If you want to know more, I got the FDA link from washington post. I just went to search and typed in (petfood recall).
