Do you care about what your pet is eating?

How much do you care about your pet’s nutrition??
Dog and cat owners how much do you care about this? Are you the kind of person who simply grabs any dog/cat food they come across or are you concerened and want the best. Do you read the ingridients on every bag you buy? Are you sure to check that there is a good meat content? do you make sure that the food you buy is free of corn, wheat, soy,by products, bett pulp, sugar, colors etc etc? what food do you feed? why do you think it will benefit your pet??
I liked duddlebu…’s answer the most so far. Anyone want to try to put up something better?

My cats eat only Hill’s Science Diet which I buy from my vet and pay high dollar for. I’ve never hear of this brand being recalled and it has been recommended to me by several vets and vet assistants through the years. In addition, all my animals drink nothing but bottled, distilled water. If I won’t even drink the nasty water that comes out of my faucet then my babies won’t be made to drink it either! Oh, I also measure the amount of food that I feed daily in order to control weight of my animals. How’s that?

I personally do have a high quality that I hold pet food to. I have a dog that I love and I try to give her the best. The best food that I have found is called Nutro. You can buy this at Petco or Petsmart… the reason this food in my opinion is the best is because it does not contain corn meal, which has no nutrional value, its just a filler and it also makes a dog potty more times a day. Nutro has sunflower oil for their skin, extra protien in the food I buy for my dog because she is a high energy dog, glucosamine for joints, etc etc. Also its not made with by products… I think this is pretty much a no brainer on why I think it benefits my dog. I love her and I want her to be as healthy as possible and if spending $15 extra dollars on a bad of dog food does it, then so be it.

There are a lot of good pet foods on the market. I would use either Hill’s, Eukanuba or Waltham. They are all of good quality. The Hill’s and Eukanuba come in different life stages for all pet needs. Waltham are better for their prescription diets – they seem to be more palatable.

My kittens are fed on Eukanuba kitten.

wow, where do I start? I believe you are what you eat. I would never feed Eukanuba or Science diet because if you read labels they contain Corn as their 2 or 3 main ingriedient. Hmmm, never seen a dog chew on a raw corm cob in the wild have you? Dogs and cats are carnivores and the only grains, grass, fruits and veggies they get in the wild is from the inside of the guts of the animals they are eating. another thing about these companies is the artificial preservatives they use that have cancer causing agents in them like BHA . another concern of mine is the Beuthasol that is used to kill the animals that are being ground up in your pet food. its the same thing we used at the vets to put animals to sleep. Called and wrote those companies about that and I am still waiting on a reply. The reason vets recommend these foods is because they get free promos and pet food (employees too) for the food they sell and oh yes, ever wonder who sponsers a lot if not most of the pet food nutrition classes that the vets take in collage? Hmmmm, take a guess. Which by the way vets are only required to take 1-2 classes of food nutrition their whole career. So I said all that to say this, if Science diet and Eukanuba have such poor standards what do you think about grocery store food? Won’t go there! I feed INNOVA EVO,and I give NUPRO (NOT nutro dog food) as a supplemnt b/c I believe no food is 100% complete, especially when you cook the enzymes out of it. I also like ORIJEN, Cannidae, California Natural, and natures Variety. and for those out there feeding RAW or the BARF diet. good for you, just a little too exspensive for me. To sum it up I like foods with no corn, wheat, or soy. No by-products, no artificial perservatives, and meat has to be the first two ingredients.
