Remember Pet Food Safety

by admin on February 21, 2010

Every owner will tell you theirs is the best breed. But I have never known a dog so full of heart, expression and devotion. Buffy was very playful, great with kids. Nuestra mihijita. Playing with Daddy before bed was her nightly routine. The snorkel photo is a postcard, vacation ’02. She loved to travel with us. She’s a victim of the Pet Food Poisoning, Menu Foods. Melamine in dry N#@U Max dog food caused kidney failure according to 2 vets. I thank GOD for giving us 10 months since diagnosis. The vet assures us that she was not in pain. Signs of kidney disease/ melamine poisoning: 1Excessive urination- incontinence,2. Breath changes- like the catbox due to toxins (nitrogen) in system,3 Drinking water and throwing it up. 4 decreased activity, 5 weight loss. Have your animals tested before its too late! Postscript: Still fighting her cause, Buffy’s photo is entered in contest. Please vote for Buffy at this link- www.cutestdogcompetition.com

so sorry. I was crying reading of your loss. I lost my cavalier last June due to a freak delayed drowning accident. I miss her every day. We now have two more cavaliers. They’ll never replace dear Pixie, but they have become as dear to me as she was.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my sweetboy in 2005. I still say i love you to him every night. months seemed like years. I did go to a shelter 2 months later not to replace him, but to keep my heart open knowing i was helping another soul and he was helping me, i found dear Logan and he is my world as was Gage. So keep your heart open.

I’m very sorry about Buffy, but it looks like you gave her a great life.

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your beautiful Buffy. I have to agree with you that Cavies are such a special, special breed and become such a cherished part of your family. I have two cavies and I couldnt imagine life without them.

coventgardengirl February 22, 2010 at 4:21 am

She’s just like my Chloe.

I’m so sorry your dog died. It’s so sad.

They are so beautiful and all individual and Cavaliers are the most wondeful dogs.

I do hope you’ll find another lovely dog, although no dog can replace another one.

Putting my nutritionist hat on here (I’m in training); fresh food, people!
If you buy the basic ingredients and process it yourself, it works out cheaper and you know what’s in it – for you and your animals.
(wags finger) you don’t need cookies, crisps, chips, cakes, icecream and fizzy drinks, you need to know what you’re eating and what you’re giving your dependants (animal or people).

Our 2 Cavs & 2 cats had raw lambs & beef heart, sometimes cooked, + dirty (green?) tripe, & were healthy.
My partner found someone new, made me homeless so he kept them though the new woman hated them. I never saw them again, my girls, & don’t know what happened to them. It hurt more than losing him; as if 80% of me was missing.
I kept my last dog, rescued not Cav, to age 17, and held her ’till she was gone – the way it should be.
Thanks for posting this and warning about pet food.

Just read today about the retailer Yidi Pet in China selling Optima dog food containing aflatoxine which caused the death of several dogs due to liver damage. Optima originates from Nashville in the USA. A subsidiary company of Optima in Shangai said the food came from Australia. A cooperator from the retailer in China denies that and said Yidi Pet got it from Taiwan. Well, they even poisened their own babies with melamine in the baby milk. Even humans aren’t safe from these maffia practises.

kaseymomsuperpoodle February 22, 2010 at 9:56 am

So sorry for your loss. I also lost a poodle not 2 yet in June due to treats from China. I miss him so much and didn’t get to have but only a year with him.

l lost my wee mitsy she was only 9 years they all die young it’s so sad but she had 10 pups.

hillhouse1W February 22, 2010 at 12:42 pm

Finding your video was a total accident. I’m not even really sure what made me click on it. I was killing time on youtube after getting back from walking my dog. It was one of those walks that makes you think he’s been posessed. Barking at everything, pulling at the leash etc. After watching your vid I had to pick the little deamon up and give him a squeeze. Now he’s got tears in his fur. I’m so sorry you lost your baby.

ShadowsOfMemories February 22, 2010 at 1:32 pm

I’m so sorry. I don’t know what it would have been like if I had lost my cavalier king charles spaniel. They are great dogs aren’t they?

xlycia February 22, 2010 at 1:37 pm

I’m very sorry for your loss, you must have loved her very much. My dog has never touched commercial pet foods, so we always cooked whole grain rice, ground beef and celery for him. After seeing this video, I’m really glad we do; thanks so much for uploading this video and warning others of possible dangers in commercial products o-o! I won’t ever try to feed my dog that kind of stuff again;;;
