If you want to buy natural dog food, I feed and recommend http://www.frrco.com/121668
There are many high quality food on the market that are considered human grade. One is Canidea another is Solid Gold, Natures Way, Timber wolf. I am now changing my dogs food over to Candiea as we speak. I got to worried about all the recalls also. Much to my surpise it was a few dollars cheeper than what I had been feeding my Goldens.
Hope this helps you out.
I personally have a 1 1/2 yr old male labrador retriever. he grew up on Nutro until about 9 mos. old. Then I started getting into holisitic and organic dog food. I came across a product called Timberwolf Organics. Harley eats the “Ocean Blue” specifically because I wanted to keep him as close to his ancestors diet as I possibly could. Fish being a big source. Ocean Blue is partly for dermatology issues…
There are other branches of Timberwolf Organics… one called Southwest Chicken & Herbs is for long-term health maintenance.
They also have a Cat food called Serengeti. Which my cat as well eats. Excellent! I will never take her off this food. Her teeth are beaufiful, her skin & coat has no dandruff or itchy dry skin and flakes.. she sheds very minimal.. and most of all she’s very shiny and silky soft..
I recommend you check into this food. It is expensive.. but well worth it.

Think about it… The recalled material is contaminated wheat. It has been MONTHS since that stuff first made it to the shelves. Hundreds if not thousands of pets have died while waiting for someone to call it a problem.
Holistic vets have long said to stay away from certain grains like corn, wheat, and soy… mostly because they’re indigestible and prone to toxic molds. But this is just one more reason.
There are both non-wheat food options and homemade recipes on the Safe Pet Food Blog at http://sAfepetfood.wordpress.com
