I think the trend is leaning more towards raw or moist foods. I have noticed that a great many manufactures of dry food are going down this route and are starting to introduce canned or vacuum sealed meat and veg packs. I know ‘Berties’ and ‘Arden Grange’ and ‘Nature’s Harvest’ in the UK are introducing moist foods.
There has been such a lot of bad press concerning commercial dry food lately, the way it is manufactured, its poor ingredients, lots of fillers etc.., plus the fact that it can absorb a tremendous of moisture from the dog’s body and if a dog is not allowed access to water 24/7 it can possibly lead to kidney failure.
I feed my dogs Nature Diet complete meat and vegetable meal with gluten free biscuit for this reason.
Dry Kibble is very convenient but is it the best food for our dogs?
I definitely think health food is the next trend for pet food. Petfood Industry.com has had a ton of articles lately relating to nutrition in pet foods so it seems to be where the industry is heading.
