What does pet food and chocolate have in common?

Scary thing is this is not a joke, there is no punch line….

Latley I have noticed that most of the major chocolate companies also have wholly owned subsidiaries in the pet food industry. A few examples are Nestle who owns Purina, and M&M Mars who own Doane Pet Care Company, who produce the familiar brands of Pedigree & Whiskas, among others…

So… Can someone explain to me why these two industries are complimentary? Does one produce a by-product that serves to benefit the other?

because they invest the profits into other products to make more profits.. one needs only to look a t Proctor& Gamble to see this. they are into every type of product imaginable from cleaners to cosmetics to food. it is basically and investment and no cross product is involved(you won’t find toilet paper in your next tv dinner) my little punch line
